Right Path Fitness is delighted to now be able to offer our clients an innovative and forward-thinking form of personal training in the form of Powerbox – a fusion of boxing and powerlifting that is designed to simultaneously increase stamina and power and strength.

The benefits of this form of training are both unique and highly exciting – Powerbox provides a workout that taps into both disciplines to focus on improving both stamina and power and explosive strength within the same training session.

 

During the workout, a range of boxing equipment and techniques are utilised, including pads, the heavy bag, and a focus on developing footwork and movement based on boxing principles and best practices, and this is mixed with the big powerlifting movements such as squats, deadlifts, and the classic clean and jerk.

During the class, longer rest periods are taken after the powerlifting movements, but there are much shorter rest periods between the cycles of the other parts of the workout, which means that effectively it incorporates all the benefits of HIIT Training as well, which is a big part of the reason that this style of workout is now proving so effective in raising the overall fitness of the people who take part on the sessions.

The really intense and full-on part of the Powerbox sessions is the boxing, this is pretty much non-stop with only a 1 minute rest period between cycles, then participants in the class move onto the powerlifting movements, which involves just 1 set of 5 reps of a classic powerlifting movement, but this is done with the maximum possible weight so that clients are really pushing themselves as hard as they can. It’s extremely demanding but in a very different way to the boxing, it’s working the body’s muscles in a very different way to the boxing, and this is why our Powerbox sessions are so effective for all-round fitness and health development.

Another great thing about the new Powerbox classes is that they are for anyone at all levels of fitness, including both men and women, of all ages. It’s very inclusive so anyone can get involved and take part on one of the classes.
